This is a pretty cool augmented reality app called Word Lens where it’s supposed to be able to translate any object with text via the phone camera to another language instantly. The free version only allows you to view any English text it detected in reverse mode or just make the text invisible. It currently only has 2 translation (english – spanish) packs which you need to pay $4.99 each.

Unfortunately on my testing, it’s not always detected correctly and sometimes the app just freezes. Nevertheless, the idea is pretty unique and useful for traveling in a different country if they have other languages available in the future.

Cost: Free ($4.99 for language pack)
Category: Travel
App size: 3.1 MB
Supported: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod touch
